High School Programme

High School Programme

OVERVIEW
WHO IS IT FOR?
COURSE OBJECTIVES
ACCOMMODATION

Our high school programme is for students who are looking to spend an academic year abroad in an Irish secondary school.  This is a unique opportunity for students to experience the educational system in Ireland while at the same time improving their own language ability. The programme is ideal for students who would like to study at third level in an English-speaking country after finishing their secondary school education or who intend to take up studies through the medium of English in their own country.

This course is for groups who wish to:

  • Experience an academic year abroad
  • Spend extended time living in an English-speaking country
  • Enjoy an educational, cultural, and social experience
  • Make memories and friends to last a lifetime

CEC works with a number of partner secondary schools in Cork City and suburbs. The partner schools we use have been carefully selected based on their performance as educational institutes and on the excellent results which their students consistently obtain in the final school-leaving examination. The percentage of students from these schools who go on to study at third level institutes is very high, averaging 80 to 90% of school leavers from any one year.

We offer the programme in day schools to young learners of a school-going age between 13 and 18 years. Most students attend 4th year, also called Transition Year, but we also offer places in other years. While on this programme and attending a day school, students are placed with a longstanding host family.

All of our High School Programme students are placed in locally based Host Families on a full-board basis.

“With the assistance of the CEC community – its compassionate teachers, activity leaders, administrative personnel as well as my inspiring classmates – I managed to raise my proficiency of English from a B2 to a solid C1. Above all, I always had a good time.”
