Non EEA Student Information


Students should refer directly to the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) with regard to registration requirements and the registration process. Details may be found at www.inis.gov.ie

CEC is happy to provide assistance with immigration related issues. We have a separate welcome meeting with all newly arrived Non-EEA students to outline the process of registering with immigration and providing the necessary documents and support. Health Insurance

CEC offers Student Private Medical Expenses Insurance to all Non EEA students. The insurance policy is provided by ACE European Group through JLT Ireland. The Student Private Medical Expenses Insurance covers the costs of students aged under 65 whose Country of Origin is outside the EEA and who, whilst in Ireland for the purpose of attending an academic course incur medical expenses following an illness requiring hospitalisation or following an accident.

The cost is €100 and this insurance policy covers students for the full duration of their course.

Protection for Learners

CEC has arrangements in place for the protection of students in the event that a programme ceases prematurely.  Student protection arrangements cover the period from when a student enrols on a programme until the time the student has successfully completed the programme and the end-of-programme exams.   Arrangements for a student to complete the programme with another provider(s) are provided through membership of Marketing English in Ireland (www.mei.ie) .

Cork English College is open from 08.30 – 17.30 Monday to Friday. During opening hours students should contact reception for help –Telephone: 021-4551522. The school also has an emergency contact number for outside of opening hours and weekends: 0879102516. 

Student refunds

Bookings may be cancelled up to 2 weeks prior to commencement of the course without penalty (other than a non-refundable deposit of €200). For cancellations received between 7 and 14 days before commencement of the course, 60% of the full amount will be refunded. For cancellations received between 1 and 7 days before commencement of the course, 30% of the full amount will be refunded. There is no refund for any cancellation once the course has commenced. This includes late arrival, early departures or missing days during the course. Bookings are not transferable, i.e. they are specific to dates, courses and applicant.

Refunds will be issued within three months of a request being made. Students unable to attend their course due to non-issuance of a visa are entitled to a full refund (less the non-refundable deposit of €200) within 20 working days of the decision being received by Cork English College.
